- 3 Layers of protection against welding spatter, slag and grindings
- Top welding side layer is a 3mm thick dense layer of Pre Oxidized Carbon Fiber Felt. Center layer is Fiberglass Mesh. Bottom layer is soft Pre Oxidized Carbon Fiber Felt. The benefit to having 3 layers is more protection and a longer life cycle.
- The top layer is thicker so it can absorb the heat from the welding debris before it has time to melt through the other two layers, the fiberglass mesh layer is the strength layer it is stronger than the carbon felt and helps to hold the blanket together it also gives the blanket one extra layer of protection, the final layer is designed to always be the backside so you will have a soft clean side to lay against the area that you are trying to protect.

- At 5mm's .19 inches thick and a weight of 950gsm 28oz per sq yrd this is a thick dense blanket giving you great protection from welding spatter and grindings. Weighing in at an average weight of 5.7 pounds it is still light and very flexible. We have designed the carbon felt part of the blanket to be more dense and this makes the carbon felt more resistant to welding damage. Other standard carbon felt blankets are 3mm-6mm thick with a gsm of 550-700gsm 16-21oz per sq yrd and they are not very dense making them less resistant to weld spatter and grindings.
- This blanket was designed to be used as a welding blanket only. Unlike other carbon felt blankets that are designed to also be a household blanket that can be used for covering BBQ grills or your kids around the fire pit our 3 layer welding blanket was designed for 1 purpose and that is to be used in a welding environment.
- Why buy this 3 layer blanket? Simple because I did. Yes I use the products that I sell. I had a very difficult time finding a good carbon fiber felt welding blanket that suited my needs and was still in my price range so I had this 3 layer blanket made. My needs were fire resistant, soft touch, strong, longer life cycle and at a reasonable price. It has great protection against welding spatter, slag and grindings. It is light weight and flexible. It is soft to the touch. It has a longer life cycle. It is large enough to cover most welding areas. It's reasonably priced.
