- Structure: The front and back single-ply guitar, also known as the double single-ply guitar, falls between the single-ply (solid top) and full single-ply (all-solid) guitars. In a double single-ply guitar, both the top and back plates are made of solid wood, while only the side plates are laminated.
- Configuration: It features an all-mahogany configuration, with solid wood single-ply top and back plates, and laminated side plates. This allows the front and back single-ply guitar to deliver a tone close to that of a full single-ply guitar under the same soundboard structure. Its overall mid-to-low frequencies are prominent, with a full and warm midrange and clean, clear, and powerful bass.
- Manufacturing: Its production process is more complex than that of traditional single-ply and full single-ply guitars. Since both the front and back are solid wood and need to be bonded with the laminated side plates, the structure details of the soundboard need to be recalibrated to achieve the tone quality of a full single-ply guitar. Elastic matching is also required, which makes its box structure more stable.
