******Note: Does not come with ants ****** Start your newly captured queen off right in this starting nest. Use the provided test tube and nifty feeding troughs to make colony setup easier. The easily removable chamber divider separates the feeding area from the founding chamber, while the updated Sliding Cover provides darkness for the queen and easy access for checks. The new printed mesh Venting Plugs provide fresh air without allowing escape, and the feeding troughs allow for easy food replacement without dirtying the test tube, thanks to their dual Spring Clip design. Directions: Fill the test tube to the indicated line with water. Separate a portion of cotton ball just large enough to gently squeeze into the tube. Over time, the cotton ball will retract down the test tube as the ants drink. If a bubble is present, tip the tube upwards and poke the cotton ball down a little more to remove the air. Air expands and contracts with heat which could push water past the cotton ball and flood the chamber. Dab up any remaining water drops in the founding chamber with a rolled up paper towel. Insert chamber divider with pull ring facing outward and use the feeding trough to push it into the final position. Leave the both inserted. Add your captured queen ant and carefully plug the end with the venting plug. You can change the placement of the chamber divider as needed. If your queen is claustral (doesn’t feed when raising her nanitics) wait until her first works start exploring before you begin feeding.
