- Carex buchananii is an Ornamental Grass in the Cyperaceae family. An endemic to New Zealand on the Northern and Southern part of the Island. Common names Buchanan's Sedge, Cutty Grass, Leatherleaf Sedge. It is a reddish-brown color and densely tufted together. It flowers from October to December, then fruits from November to June usually. It can grow on the coast and in the mountains. It grows to 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide in partial shade and full sun. Zones 7-9
- Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and lightly cover. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover and keep temperatures around 65-75F. Germination is in 7-30 days.
