Wiring the connection in the wrong way will lead to a short circuit and will damage the device. Plug 12V DV Power Wire to the red (+) wire and Ground to the black (-). Do not install in a wiring controlled by a wall switch or a ground fault protector. This detector is not designed to detect smoke, fire, carbon monoxide or gases other than propane. The test button only tests the alarm circuit, not the sensor. You will need to use propane gas or butane gas to test the sensor functionality at least once every 3~4 months and before every trip. Replace after five years to make sure the sensor inside functions at the highest performance level
