- SOIL Temperature for use: 70-75F. Planting Depth: 1/4". Sprout -S-e-e-d-s in small containers, preferably 4" or smaller. In-ground use is not recommended. Use a standard potting mix that is well drained. Soil should be kept consistently warm, from 70-85F. Cool soils, below about 60-65F, even just at night, will significantly delay or inhibit use. Additionally, overly warm soils, well above 90F, can inhibit use and provide ideal conditions for -S-e-e-d-s rot.
- Over watering can cause fungal growth which leads to -S-e-e-d-s rot. Excess water can also bury -S-e-e-d-s deep in the soil where they will not be able break the surface. Water when the soil surface just begins to dry. Multiple -S-e-e-d-s can be planted in a single starter container, but should be thinned once -S-e-e-d-slings appear so only a single plant remains. -S-e-e-d-s do not require light for use but some light source should be provided for -S-e-e-d-slings once they emerge from the soil.
- -S-e-e-d-s STARTING TIP: Sow -S-e-e-d-s indoors 6-8 weeks before average last frost date using a -S-e-e-d-s starting kit. Transplant your -S-e-e-d-slings into the garden outdoors after all danger of frost. Make sure to harden off your -S-e-e-d-slings by leaving them outdoors in their containers up to a week before transplanting.
