- Ephedra intermedia is a shrub in the Ephedraceae family. A native to China, Mongolia, Tibet, Himalayas, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Asia, and Siberia. Growing near beaches on grassy slopes and cliffs and in the flood lands and deserts. It grows in elevations of 100 feet to 4,500 feet. It prefers rocky and dry habitats in full sun to part shade. It grows to around 3 feet tall and is dioecious having male and female parts on any one plant. The flowers are pink to red in color. Zones 5-9
- Mix seeds and moistened soil together in a ziplock bag. Write the name on the bag. Place in the refrigerator for 10 days. Soak seeds for 12 hours. Sow seeds into a well-drained, sandy compost and cover seeds to their own depth with sand or grit. Place the seed tray in bright light and keep moist. Seeds may germinate slowly.
