- WHEN TO PLANT:Plant rice after the last frost has passed, in early spring or sometime in March.
- GROW:Before sowing, the seeds should be soaked in water for 12 - 36 hours, after which the seeds are dug into small pits. Then cover with soil.
- USE:Steamed jasmine rice is ideal for eating with stir fries, with grilled, fried, or braised food items, and in soups.
- UNIQUE:Brown jasmine rice retains the light tan outer bran on the rice grain.Brown jasmine rice has a flavor like oats and contains gamma oryzanol which can decrease cholesterol in blood vessels.
- TASTE:It is moist and soft in texture when cooked, with a slightly sweet flavor. The grains cling and are somewhat sticky when cooked.It is about three times stickier than American long-grain rice.
