Iris’ are a more exotic addition to your garden for late spring and early summer, and are good at creating an impression.
The Metallic Mixture opens up in rich shades of purple, maroon and yellow. They are a hardy plant and very easy to grow in beds, borders or containers.
They also make superb cut-flowers because of their long straight stems, perfect for vases or floral arrangements.
Iris bulbs need to be planted in autumn at a depth twice their own height and 10cm apart. They perform best in a nice sunny position in free draining soil. They are versatile as they can be planted in containers full of loam-based compost such as John Innes No.2.
