The FGX5 is an all-solid traditional western guitar with an Atmosfeel pickup system. Made by Yamaha at its Custom Shop in Hammamatsu, Japan, the A.R.E. treated solid Sitka spruce top and scalloped top-bracing deliver a rich midrange and low frequency response. The solid mahogany back and sides produce a warm and woody tone with a strong midrange. The Atmosfeel 3-way system mixes piezo, mic, and sheet sensor pickups for a full, natural sounding plugged-in sound. Solid Sitka Spruce TopCommonly sourced from Canada and Alaska, solid Sitka spruce offers a rich midrange and low-frequency response. Bone is a harder material than urea, providing a more efficient transfer of energy from the strings to the neck and body. The result is a louder and clearer sound.Scalloped BracingWith careful measurement and experimentation, Yamaha made several refinements, including scalloped bracing, that would enhance low-frequency response without compromising durability. These changes are optimized for the natural characteristics of the tonewoods, and for each body silhouette.Acoustic Resonance EnhancementYamaha's exclusive Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (A.R.E.) uses heat, humidity, and atmospheric pressure to accelerate the aging of the wood.
