Cherry Republic was founded by Bob Sutherland in 1989 to help support local fruit farmers in Michigan. Today, Cherry Republic offers over 200 cherry-based products including salsas, chocolate-covered cherries, BBQ sauce, jams, jellies, nut mixes, pies and cakes, condiments, summer sausage and soda pop.
The company has also grown to include six retail outlets throughout Michigan, a thriving corporate gift-giving business, and a mail order catalog business. An important piece of its business model is its philanthropic work. The company has donated to nonprofits that positively impact the environment and communities throughout Michigan over the past 30 years.
