- To meet the special growing needs of Texas and Oklahoma, this wild flower seed mix was formulated, and it includes: 18% Baby's Breath, Annual 18% Candytuft, Annual 11% Coneflower, Purple 9% Cornflower, Dwarf Blue 9% Coreopsis, Lance Leaved 9% Cosmos Sulphur Bright Lights 9% Indian Blanket 9% Sage, Scarlet 2% Coneflower, Clasping 2% Verbena, Purple Moss 1% Coneflower, Prairie 1% Black-eyed Susan 1% Coreopsis, Plains 1% Evening Primrose.
- Grows best in USDA zones 6 - 10. It is an annual and perennial mix reaching a height of 24 - 32 inches.
- This mix can be used in both Texas and Oklahoma except for the extreme eastern and southern areas of Texas and the extreme eastern area of Oklahoma. Prepare a site by removing weeds and loosening soil.
- Seed can be broadcast and raked into the soil, covering 2 – 3 times their thickness, or seed can be drilled to a maximum of ¼ inch. This Texas and Oklahoma mix should be planted in the spring once soil temperature warm to 55F. Seed should stay moist by either rainfall or irrigation until germination occurs.
- Sowing Rate: 1/4 LB Per 500 - 1,000 SF or 5 LBS Per 10,000 - 20,000 SF. Most wildflower seeds and mixtures have a purity of 95-99% and total viable seed percentages of between 70-95%. The total viable seed percent is the germination percent, plus the hard seed or dormant seed percent. Hard seeds have impermeable seed coats and cannot imbibe water during seed testing. Dormant seeds are viable seeds that have specific physical or physiological conditions.
