Swell Season

The Frames frontman Glen Hansard and the classically trained Czech singer/pianist Marketa Irglova have jointly produced an album of rousing songs and compositions. From straightforward pieces to piano instrumental numbers, The Swell Season offers a glimpse of a whole new side of Glen Hansard/The Frames, while perfectly presenting an extraordinarily talented newcomer. The title of the album comes from the book of the same name by the author Josef Skvorecky. The story from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia revolves around a man's love of music and his persecution of countless women as the country sinks into chaos. Like the book, the album is about the pain and hope of those who are fighting for the meaning of their lives.
