Due to the booming eCommerce market, there are many sites to begin selling your products on. Amazon and eBay are certainly leaders in the field, however sites like Etsy, Ruby Land, Bonanza, Craigslist, Rakuten, or Walmart, are also great places to list your items.
- Etsy and Ruby Lane: This is the site for handmade goods, vintage goods, or craft supplies. These sites are more niche than Amazon or eBay. Etsy charges a listing fee of $.20USD per item and needs to be renewed every 4 months.
- Bonanza: This site is fairly new to the eCommerce scene, however, is quickly growing as one of the easiest platforms to use. There is no limit to the range of products you can find on Bonanza. It is free to list an item with the average fee per sale being as little as 3.5%. Also, due to it being a fairly new site, the ratio of shoppers to sellers is about 1,300 to 1 meaning far less competition than amazon or ebay.
- Craigslist: listing an item or service is completely free through craigslist, however you must be selling locally. Most products are sold under pick-up or drop-off agreements, limiting your market.
- Rakuten: More than 90% of Japan’s internet users are registered on this eCommerce site, meaning the market is huge. On Rakuten, sellers have the ability to customize their own stores within the platform. There is a $33 dollar monthly seller fee as well as a product category fee of 8%-15%.
- Walmart: Walmart has expanded to the eCommerce market with Walmart marketplace! There are no set-up or maintenance fees, just a fee of 8%-20% on sales. Walmart does offer walmart branded items which makes competition tougher than most other selling platforms. This site won’t be the most profitable due to Walmart's low-prices ideologies.
