Complaints from eBay sellers have grown steadier and louder in recent years, as eBay evolved dramatically: from its days as a ‘free-for-all’ online marketplace into something akin to a vast, endless, virtual mall, where the sellers with the most visibility and resources can capture the prospective shoppers much more easily than, say, your “average Joe” seller, who will need to work hard to climb his way up the feedback ladder in order to be taken seriously by prospective buyers.
A complaint high on the list with sellers is, that eBay has become a more “buyer-centric” marketplace, with the site tending to side with buyers in case of disputes. As such, suspected fraudulent buyers are lurking throughout, and sellers feel eBay is not doing enough to protect them. Sellers are forced to keep a cash reserve in order to pay for product returns. And where once it was safe to sell used or refurbished items, to avoid pitfalls, selling new items only would be a better route to go. This is in addition to the risks that eBay sellers are facing
