Amazon FBA allows your shipments to be fulfilled through Amazon’s own warehouses and logistics systems. While you can fulfill your own orders using the FBM model, FBA offers legitimate time savings. The benefits of FBA include access to Amazon’s customer service, shipping, and warehousing, saving you resources and providing your customers with peace of mind when it comes to their purchases.
Sellers always have the option to cancel their FBA subscription if they wish to return to FBM, or quit Amazon entirely.
If for whatever reason, you wish to cancel an FBA subscription, you must:
- Finish fulfilling any outstanding orders and wait 90 days for the return policy to expire.
- Contact Amazon to have your inventory disposed of, or returned from their warehouses.
- Change all of your current and future listings from “Fulfilled by Amazon” to “Fulfilled by Merchant.”
FBA is an excellent service for online sellers. If you are thinking of canceling, consider asking yourself why. Some sellers claim the fees are too high, but the real problem may be your pricing strategy.
As a seller, you need to sell your products in categories that have high demand and low competition. Your products need to have reasonable profit margins that leave you with a reasonable margin of error. If pricing is something that you find difficult, you should consider using a dedicated market research tool like Algopix to help you determine if a specific product is viable using Amazon FBA.
