There are a number of basic techniques that sellers use to boost their brand’s visibility on online marketplaces. With a few adjustments and manipulations, a seller can significantly boost their sales and revenue. Some of these tricks include the Buy Box trick, ASIN piggybacking, off-platform advertising, and automated repricing. The Buy Box - Amazon will choose sellers of the same product as the default seller in the “buy box” on the right side of the product page. In order to “win” the buy box, sellers should aim for a lower price than their competitors, have a rating of above 90%, and have the same ASIN number as the targeted page’s product. It is also highly recommended to use the Fulfilled by Amazon program.
  • ASIN Piggybacking - this trick refers to the method of finding a popular product, and attempting to list it for less. If you make a listing for an identical product that is less than the buy box price, you can have an increased chance of sales. For this method, the product must be identical (i.e. no knockoffs).
  • Off-Platform Advertising - this one is fairly straightforward: simply advertising as much as possible outside of Amazon. This may include social media advertisements, contacting influencers, coupons and deals websites etc.
  • Automated Repricing - a number of tools are available to automatically reprice product listings the seller may have. As a result, the listings can achieve higher positions and visibility. Many of these options include free trial periods, so you can find which one works best for you. A list of these can be found in our blog.
